A few weeks ago we had a particularly rainy bank holiday and our plans of getting out and about, or at least having our first barbecue of year, to enjoy the long weekend had to be shelved. So the only thing to do on days like that is to make the most of being inside. I actually love enforced hibernation – now that the majority of our home is ‘done’, it’s a real pleasure to be in it and enjoy it.
Having a refine day at home, the three of us together, has to have some essential ingredients – great food, games to play, a movie to watch and comfortable but stylish loungewear. The latter is an essential for just me; Mr N and Ava have no interest. Yet. Obviously I’m working on this.
Cosy, comfortable but still – hopefully – stylish.
We pottered through the day, intermittently eating, snacking and playing games together and ended the day with a movie – today’s showing was Wonder Woman, which I had somewhat high hopes for given some of the reviews but inevitably it was just fine.
For lunch: roasted vegetables, quinoa and blue cheese.
I’m always on the look out for new games. Others that we like are Linkee (although you need a question master for this one, which means one person can’t ‘play’), The Game of Life and Cranium. We also love playing cards, Go Fish is a favourite, Dobble and Uno. And you can’t beat a game of Dominoes.
For dinner: Cauliflower Gobi Manchurian followed by Pad Thai.
So tell me – what does your ideal rainy day look like? And – on the off chance that we might see a few more rainy days over the ‘summer’ – what new games would you recommend?
